Belgian Malinois vs. German Shepherd
Let’s talk about similarities
Both the German Shepherd and the Belgian Malinois come from the
sheepdog family. They have been helping human beings to herd sheep
on the hilly pastures of Europe for a long time. In recent years
these two breeds have also been used as working dogs in the police
forces and security agencies of many European countries including
Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
Many ordinary dog owners also make use of the German shepherds and
the Belgian Malinois as guardians for their homes. We can now state
that these two breeds have occupied an identical position in the
life of people.
For the last years the Belgian Malinois and the German Shepherd were
in the top ten list of the most popular dog breeds in the world.
When talking about their character we cannot but stand that both of
them inherited a high level of self-sufficiency, intelligence,
loyalty, alertness due to which they act as marvellous guard dogs.
Both these dogs are assiduous when busy with their job. Thus they
are rated highly because of these character features.
Aggressiveness
One of the most evident appearance differences is that the German
Shepherd is a large sized dog whereas the Belgian Malinois is a
medium sized dog. People have disagreement concerning the aggressive

Shepherd some not. But majority states that it is not aggressive dog
which likes to play with children. But aggression to other animals
can be as a drawback.

however a lot quicker dog than the German Shepherd. In addition
Malinois has huge piles of energy and agility that cannot be
mentioned about its “competitor”. Thus there is a tendency now to
give priority to Malinois than to German Shepherd when chosing dog
as a military and police (K9) dog.
Training
Here B.Malinois is also ahead because they are much easier to be
controlled than the German Shepherds. Although both these dogs are
known to be loyal but once you win over the respect of the Belgian
Malinois things will get a lot easier.
The Belgian Malinois like to be always involved it any kind of
activity. They like to work but can’t stand when it takes them too
long. So if your an amateur for you it will be easier to deal with
German Shepherd because they are easier for their master.
Malinois are considered to be more curious than the German Shepherd.
The Belgian Malinois also stands in need to be permanently
socialized. They like to be with their family, walk and socialize
than to be locked somewhere and forgotten.
The more your walk with Malinois and spend time with it the more in
will understand you and what you expect from it.
The German Shepherd however is less fastidious in this sense. They
are more patient. So, it’s up for you to choose what do you expect
from dog: to be patient, easy in contact or active and more
intelligent.
